  • TJ roof mounted light bar wire routing - The easy way!

    What you need:

~50 inch light bar - I wont recommend any brands - buy the one you like!!
A light bar mount - I purchased a Rough Country one on eBay for ~$100 or so
a pair of cutters of some type - an old pair of scissors would work in a pinch

What we are going to avoid is this:
    syIddau.jpg
I know its not easy to see; but the cord is run down the edge of my window gasket then under it at the bottom, then down through the cowl.
    It looks bad!!!

Here is how you can make yours look so much better!!!

Open your drivers side door ( Obviously )
Run the wire from your light bar around your driver side A Pillar and into the cab:

Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the black plastic trim and pull it back from the A pillar carefully.
    * NOTE * The plastic trim is still attached under your sun visor so be gentle!!!

Using the cutting device of your choice notch the upper edge and put the wire through as shown:

Now run it along the inside of the plastic cover, down into the gap on your dashboard:

Tuck the wire into the gaps on the plastic cover and return it to its original position, replace screws and clips that hold it in place.

Now you can attach your relay system ( not shown, everyone does this their own way )

USE A RELAY OR A RELAY SYSTEM - DO NOT WIRE YOUR LIGHT DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY !!!!!

    Enjoy!!!

Nicely done. The cheap and ingenious mods are the best ones.

I know this is an old thread but hoping the OP is still around.

I'm getting ready to do this since I have the same light bar mount and a single-row cree led rough country led 50" bar on my 2004 TJ Rubi and hate how the wire is running down into the cowl how I have it now... I'm curious though how the door closes with the wire run like this. I don't want to pinch the wire or have any leaks.

Well it honestly has not leaked in 4 years, door closes fine and I have not had any issues with the setup
